CELEBRATING 20 YEARS FOR AHOGHILL OLDER PEOPLES’ HOUSING

28 September 2018

People at Gloonan House independent living in Ahoghill came together with friends and family for dinner and dancing this week to celebrate their housing scheme’s 20th birthday.

Gloonan House, run by Clanmil Housing, provides 28 self-contained, easy to manage apartments for older people, along with security and an active lifestyle.

Sylvia Bell has lived at Gloonan House since it first opened in 1998.  She said:

“I really appreciate living in a place where there are always people close by and the building is secure.

“We have a great community spirit and we really benefit from being able to come together regularly to enjoy activities and company.  We all help each other and look out for each other on a daily basis.  It’s a very pleasant place to live.”

Tim O’Malley, Community Development Manager at Clanmil, said:

“Gloonan House is such a vibrant, friendly and welcoming place.  It’s great to be part of the 20th anniversary celebrations.

“There’s always something going on at Gloonan House for people to get involved in and the scheme is right at the heart of the local community.

“Gloonan House has been a great place to live for many people over the past 20 years and we at Clanmil are committed to ensuring that people continue to enjoy living here for many years to come.”
